Posting Summary:
The Communication Sciences and Disorders in the Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City (CSD at Teachers College) is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor to conduct a focused program of research, teach graduate courses, and participate in service.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Communication Sciences and Disorders in the Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York City (CSD at Teachers College) is seeking a full-time faculty member at the rank of assistant or associate professor to conduct a focused program of research, teach graduate courses, and participate in service.

The area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research areas complement or build upon those of our current faculty. Priority areas of expertise include literacy, reading disorders, and child language disorders.

As our CSD program is committed to advancing the field at all levels with respect to issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion, past experiences, current activities and/or future goals related to these issues will be considered a plus, including experience working with diverse/historically marginalized populations. These values are clear through the work of our program faculty, who are leaders in clinical-translational research, with immediate clinical relevance to the multilingual, multicultural populations we serve.

Responsibilities:
Teach graduate courses in communication sciences and disorders, conduct and supervise research in areas of interest and expertise, and provide service to the Program, Department, College and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications:
● A doctorate in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Education, Learning Disabilities or related field with teaching experience and evidence of an emerging or developed line of research.
● Experience sufficient to support teaching graduate courses in speech and language pathology.
● Demonstrated experience with external funding processes and have a plan or track record in applying for external funding.

Candidates are expected to have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentorship at both the master’s and doctoral levels, including working with students and groups from racially minoritized groups.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA
● Candidates whose research areas complement or build upon those of our current faculty. Priority areas of expertise include literacy, reading disorders, and/or child language disorders.
● Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of students, faculty, and staff, whose research includes work with diverse/historically minoritized populations, and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are especially encouraged to apply.

Salary Range:

$108,000-$130,000, Compensation commensurate with experience
