The Community Engagement and Program Coordinator is a self-starter who will work effectively in a fast-paced office that supports all matters related to community affairs at Teachers College. The ideal candidate has strong program management and facilitation skills, is able to collaborate with a wide variety of employees, departments, leadership teams, and third parties as needed, and is comfortable with the complexity of community affairs programming. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for the Office of Community Affairs, the incumbent will serve as the primary program manager for office-led and office-supported programs and events.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Program Operations - Content Development, Implementation, and Support
● Manage relationships with internal and external vendors to support program delivery (catering, room assignments, setup, decor, etc.).
● Manage internal and external communications and outreach to guest speakers, program lecturers, and panelists.
● Maintain a database of all programmatic activities and initiatives.
● Prepare program flyers and community-wide emails.
● Work with the Office of Community Affairs team to develop and implement programming.
● Conduct research and remain cognizant of current events to guide program content.
● Ensure all programmatic deliverables are met.

Community Affairs
● Serve as the primary program manager for OCA-led and OCA-supported programs and events throughout TC.
● Administer community award and grant initiatives, including application, selection, and award notification processes.
● Chair relevant grant committees.
● Manage a number of projects related to the implementation of the TC’s community strategic priorities.
● Assist in the development of institutional policies and practices to further a climate of community.
● Manage the "In the Community Newsletter."
● Regularly monitor, maintain, and update the OCA websites regarding programmatic initiatives and events.
● Manage or assist with meditation room and lactation room requests.

Administrative Support
● Support the work of the Associate Vice President for Community Affairs. This includes, but is not limited to, database management, attending committee meetings as needed, preparing meeting or presentation materials, and recording minutes as needed.
● Support the work of the Office and serve as back-up for the Office Operations & Administration.
● Represent the office and provide general support by attending meetings as a representative of the office.
● Serve as a resource for faculty, staff, and students concerning issues related to community affairs.
● Leverage quantitative and qualitative data to track, evaluate, and report on the progress and effectiveness of program activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training, and experience.
● Three years of events or project management experience with a proven record of success working independently to scope, plan, and manage projects and programs, setting priorities, creating workflows, and managing stakeholder engagement and accountability.
● Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as the ability to learn new technology.
● Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced office.
● Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
● Excellent judgment, time management, verbal, and exceptional writing skills.
● People-oriented with the ability to communicate effectively, build, and maintain authentic relationships with a diverse population.
● Experience working with websites, newsletters, and basic graphic design.
● Experience working with basic graphic programs (Canva, InDesign, etc.).
● Highly collaborative within a team setting.

Preferred Qualifications:
● Master's degree in Higher Education, Public Administration, Social Work, Counseling, Organizational Leadership, or another related field.
● Demonstrated understanding of community affairs in higher education.
● Proficiency in using social media platforms.
● Familiarity with higher education administration, nonprofit administration, or a related social justice background.

Salary Range:

$84,000 - $90,000
