Posting Summary:
The Office of Teacher Education seeks a Graduate Research Assistant to work on a teacher retention data project in Summer of 2025. The project will include working with the Office of Teacher Education Staff, Vice Dean for Teacher Education, and Institutional Research to gather names and details of graduates, develop a survey and send it to graduates, and organize and analyze data for reporting.
Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Teacher Education Research Assistant will work under the supervision of Vice Dean Colby Tofel-Grehl, conducting research-specific scholarly projects relevant to the teacher education at Teachers College. This position requires a commitment 15 hours/week or 225 hours across the semester.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Research support, including literature reviews related to teacher education;
Attending webinars and meetings and sharing back information with the Vice Dean;
Supporting teacher education faculty with pilot projects;
Supporting the Office of Teacher Education in projects related to teacher education programming at TC;
Other duties as assigned.
*Both U.S. Citizens and international students are eligible for this position.
*This position is eligible for 3 tuition points per semester.

Scheduling
Student work schedules are based upon the needs of the Office of Teacher Education and the student’s academic schedule. Students should discuss their schedule with the hiring manager/supervisor during the interview process. Hiring managers/supervisors will make every attempt to accommodate students’ needs.
Work Limitations
During the academic year students may not hold appointments or any combination of appointments totaling more than 27 hours per week (exception: Generally, international students may not exceed 20 hours).

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a TC student currently enrolled in a degree program and taking at least 5 credits
Must be able to abide by Teachers College academic and personnel policies and guidelines, including FERPA, Student Confidentiality Agreement and the Student Privacy Requirements
Ability to handle and protect confidential and sensitive data with integrity
A minimum commitment of one semester
Must be able to organize work, collect and analyze data, make calculations, prepare reports, and keep records
Ability to apply sound research techniques, methodology and logical critical analysis
Ability to learn new software and research techniques as needed
Demonstrated ability to conduct rigorous research, including literature review, data collection, analysis, and interpretation
Ability to think critically, identify research gaps, propose innovative ideas, and solve problems related to the research project
Willingness to learn and apply new research techniques
Must be willing to learn and contribute to ongoing research activities
