Posting Summary:
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) Office is seeking a Research Compliance Assistant who must be eligible for federal work study funding (approved via the Teachers College office of Financial Aid). The Assistant will provide support on general tasks and various departmental functions and projects. This position requires a commitment of a minimum of 15 hours/week.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
We are seeking a dynamic, self-directed Research Compliance Assistant to support the creation of educational materials, facilitate daily office operations, and manage administrative tasks related to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) office. The Assistant will:

  • Follow established procedures and practices to ensure research involving human subjects complies with federal regulations, state laws, and College policies
  • Support educational and informational material creation in response to College needs
  • Assist with administration of IRB meetings and related duties
  • Participate in training activities for students, staff, and faculty
  • Have an opportunity to connect with research labs and centers in research compliance efforts
  • Under supervision of IRB leadership, the individual will support office processes and policies to ensure smooth operation.


The Assistant will work closely with full-time staff and engage with filing and electronic processing of research compliance related items. The individual may attend IRB Full Board and subcommittee meetings.

*Only candidates eligible to receive federal work study will be considered for the position.

This position is not eligible for tuition credits.

Scheduling
Student work schedules are based upon the needs of the department and the student’s academic schedule. Students should discuss their schedule with the hiring manager/supervisor during the interview process. Hiring managers/supervisors will make every attempt to accommodate students’ needs.

Work Limitations
During the academic year students may not hold appointments or any combination of appointments totaling more than 27 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have been awarded federal work-study for the term in which a work-study position is being sought
  • Must be a TC student currently enrolled in a degree program and taking at least 5 credits
  • Must be able to abide by Teachers College academic and personnel policies and guidelines, including FERPA, Student Confidentiality Agreement and the Student Privacy Requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Social Media
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong computer, research, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to complete assigned projects with minimal supervision

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in data management and report generation
  • Experience in blog writing, marketing, public relations, or educational material development
  • Ability to work independently, while troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Ability to work as part of a team as both a leader and collaborator
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in a busy office
  • Ability to navigate website development, social media, and other technology platforms
  • Ability to engage in research or research compliance communication as it pertains to ethics
  • Ability to engage in public speaking presentations with refined skills in slide deck creation

$18-$18
