Job Summary/Basic Function:
THE RITA GOLD EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER (RGC) at Teachers College seeks a part-time administrative assistant to provide administrative support in an early childhood education center serving children ages 6 weeks to five years old. Job responsibilities involve supporting the day-to-day operations and mission of the Rita Gold Early Childhood Center, working closely with the On-Site Director.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain communication with current families and facilitate intake of new families.
  • Maintain budget functions and fees/billing management.
  • Assist teachers with classroom-related administrative responsibilities.
  • Process required staff, child and student health/welfare forms and documents, ensuring compliance with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
  • Respond to phone and email messages.
  • Maintain the enrollment application/waitlist database.
  • Perform other Center-related duties around enrollment, scheduling, and parent communication.
  • Interface with College offices and departments such as C&T, Budget Office, and Facilities.
  • Participate in all center-wide events, assisting with planning and execution of events.
  • Routine updates to the Center website.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Previous administrative experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Well-developed organizational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
  • Able to create, maintain, and manage internal record keeping on an ongoing basis.
  • Must submit necessary clearance paperwork and pass DOHMH background check for childcare settings.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Early Childhood Education and/or experience working in an early childhood education setting
  • Experience with accounting/managing budget.

$24/hour
