Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Gordon Institute for Advanced Study seeks a part-time Post Doctoral Research Fellow from May 15, 2025 to February 28, 2026. The selected fellow is expected to work 4 hours a week conducting research activities focused on data collection, organization, and analysis, for the AI and Black Youth Life Project. This project is designed to explore how Black youth are engaging with and understanding AI platforms in their everyday lives.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate relevant research that is useful to scholars, practitioners, and policymakers
  • Conduct data collection by designing data collection plans, creating data collection instruments, administering surveys, and conducting interviews
  • Organize, process, and analyze data
  • Ensure that all data collection and management protocol and procedures are compliant with IRB standards
  • Make contributions and edit materials for publications and presentations (such as research papers, conference presentations, and other scholarly publications)
  • Provide intellectual support for research faculty and graduate students involved in the project
  • Build capacity with partner schools through strategic collaboration and research
  • Liaise with affiliated students and faculty managing project design and implementation
  • Collaborate with faculty and external partners to foster collaboration and facilitate knowledge exchange
  • Provide mentorship to junior members of the project team as needed 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a related field
  • Quantitative and qualitative research skills
  • Writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Qualtrics, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting data collection and analyzing data
  • Experience with interviewing methods
  • Experience with human subject research
  • Experience/interest in digital humanities research methods

Salary Range:

$55.00 - $55.00 per hour
