Posting Summary:
The Enrollment Marketing and Communications team at Teachers College, Columbia University, is seeking a Senior Graphic Designer to join our dynamic and collaborative team. This role is responsible for providing creative direction, developing compelling design concepts, and delivering high-quality visuals across a range of enrollment marketing and communications materials.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
Reporting to the Director of Enrollment Marketing and Communications, the Senior Graphic Designer will serve as a key member of Teachers College, Columbia University’s Enrollment Marketing and Communications team. The incumbent will provide direction, design, and feedback on TC’s enrollment marketing and communications materials.

The Senior Graphic Designer will support the recruitment of prospective students and their journey through the enrollment process by delivering innovative, high-quality designs across a variety of media. This role plays a key part in shaping the College’s visual identity for prospective students, ensuring all design work aligns with institutional branding, messaging, and strategic enrollment goals. The successful candidate will think strategically, collaboratively, and creatively to provide design solutions that ensure Teachers College is effectively positioned to achieve its enrollment goals.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Graphic Design and Production

  • Design and produce marketing materials to promote Teachers College to prospective students across print, digital, web, email, and other platforms.
  • Create visually appealing media that effectively communicate the unique value propositions of the College.
  • Pitch designs for and produce digital advertising and paid media assets, based on current best practices, design trends, and platform specifications
  • Produce promotional items, presentations, and brochures for stakeholders in Enrollment Management and/or TC’s academic departments


Branding and Identity 

  • Ensure consistency in branding and visual identity across all enrollment marketing materials
  • Manage and implement the College’s central brand standards
  • Identify the most commonly used materials and develop brand-compliant templates
  • Train EM units on brand compliance, as needed


Collaboration/Production Oversight 

  • Commission or produce original assets as needed (illustration, animation, etc.), offer creative direction and feedback, and manage vendors throughout the production process.
  • Plan and oversee photo and video shoots, retouch photos, and organize photo, video, and design files to make accessing them efficient and intuitive
  • Manage vendors and freelancers responsible for producing marketing materials on time and on budget
  • Other duties as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • 4 or more years of professional experience
  • Experience adhering to and creatively implementing brand standards
  • Ability to receive, interpret, and incorporate feedback
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Proficiency in Google Suite, including Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets
  • Experience making templates for implementation by others
  • Experience designing for paid media, including ad creative
  • Extensive experience liaising with and managing external vendors for printing, producing promotional items, photoshoots, and mailings
  • Established record of collaboration and strong interpersonal and communication skills while working independently, with external stakeholders, and as part of a team
  • Attention to and knowledge of trademark, copyright, and accessibility standards
  • Ability to design a comprehensive set of assets at scale while maintaining a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to produce and follow creative briefs
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in non-profit, higher education, or agency settings.
  • Experience or familiarity with multiple modes of art and design, including photography, illustration, UX, video, and/or motion graphics
  • Experience making data-driven creative decisions through A/B testing, UX testing, and market research

Salary Range:

$83,200 - $86,000

The salary range reflects the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting.  Salary decisions are dependent on several factors, including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

Hybrid/Remote

Depending on role and business needs, colleagues will either work onsite or in a hybrid model (a combination of in-office and virtual days). Employees are expected to live within a 150-mile radius of the College.
